In accordance with Miao's calendar, Guzang festival is one of the most important and spectacular festival. In three weeks of festival, miao people communicate with their ancestors in the ways of copper drum beating and dancing as well as bull fighting.
Guzang means to bury Gu, a place ancestor stay. As it happens very 12 years, bigger attention is paid and significant sacrifice is offered. Above all, it is also a competition of costumes and silver ornament.
For the day, many essentialities must be prepared in advance, such as liquor, meat and presents for relatives and friends. Bull fight and dance highlighted the festival.
As the first singing of Lusheng rose up, younger in costumes shinning with silvers followed elders to take ceremony of godliness.
Strong water buffalos were led to the front of shrine to fight each other for fun. Miao people uphold bravery and power.
Next morning in atmosphere of grandeur, tens of water buffalos were slaughtered. The air is suffused with blood smell and people are very incompatible, feeling pleasure for showing loyal and power to ancestors on one hand and sentimental for having lost good partners on the other hand.
Interior organs were used to worship the heaven, earth and ancestors. The bloody ground was washed and cleaned and consequentially dancing and singing of Lusheng rose up there till the end a few days later.
All friends and relatives, no matter how far from, came to join the celebrations together. A farewell meal has been prepared. Every one has been expected to eat and drink as much as possible, and as time to leave, hosts supposed to get some presents like beef to them. Only being such hospitable can they show their loyalty, honesty and respect to ancestors and can ancestor and spirit protect them and bring the clan with good harvest and happy life.
